Joan Sangenis - Priorat

Joan Sangenis founded his winery in 1995, based in the hills of Porrera in Southern Catalonia in NE Spain. The young owner, Joan Sangenis, did not study wine making at university - he cites experience as his research. He spends 10 months in the vineyards and only 2 months in the cellars becuase he feels so strongly that "great wines come from great grapes not great hands."

The secret of both his white and red wines is the blend - Garnacha. The red is produced from ony the grapes of the old vines whilst the white, one of only three prodiced in Priorat, has been awarded, along with Vindemia, the title of 'Best Spanish White'.
