Tasting Room was set up in Larkhall Village in 2004 by Will Baber who was for many years a Bath restaurateur. After five years with Oddbins and the well-known Wiltshire wine merchants, Yapp Brothers, and a Diploma from the Wines and Spirits Education Trust, Will became poacher-turned-gamekeeper, setting up William Baber Wines Ltd selling to hotels and restaurants.

His experience in the trade and his extensive travels around the wine regions of Europe and the New World have led him to believe that there is too much focus on the big wine producers at the expense of the small dedicated producers, and it is these that Tasting Room champions.

Special to Tasting Room too is the opportunity for customers to sample wines they want to buy. All selected wines are subjected to the Tasting Room Tasting Panel, comprised of members of staff and two discerning Bath restaurateurs, and have to pass the quality, value and interest test. That way the choices are completely impartial and selected on their own merits, so you are guaranteed truly excellent wines to sample.
